S3 Environmental Solutions Ltd specialise in the design of low-tech landfill leachate treatment plants, particularly for weaker leachates from non operational sites.

Once a landfill closes, the leachate produced changes in character often leaving systems that were designed for strong leachate treatment unable to cope. In addition, once a site ceases operation, high revenue costs arising from monitoring and maintaining sophisticated systems or from tankering for treatment off-site, can become a serious and long term drain on resources.

S3 have designed and commissioned many different systems for our clients specific needs that involve low tech solutions but are capable of in excess of 95 - 99% removal of iron, ammonia, BOD and other problem contaminents. We pride ourselves on being able to design and build robust plants for a fraction of the capital cost of a conventional system and which are generally chemical free and cost effective to operate.

We also manufacture modular nitrification towers to improve treatment performance at new or existing leachate treatment plants. The nitrification towers are packed with a light weight plastic media to encourage aeration and oxidation of the leachate, converted ammonium to its less harmful form of nitrate. Micro-organisms colonise the towers and feed off the leachate, lowering BOD and nutrient levels. For more infomation please read about 'Feramex' HERE
